Basic Questions On Handy Plans In Home Solar Power Sault Ste Marie
S&P upgrades school district’s credit rating Sault Area Public Schools recently received a good piece of financial news. Superintendent Tim Hall announced during Monday evening’s Board of Education meeting that the district’s credit rating has been upgraded by Standard & Poor’s, the financial services company which establishes such ratings based on an entity’s willingness and ability to meet financial obligations. The rating was moved from A+ negative to A+ stable. Hall said that reflects several things, including the district’s proactive stance regarding declining enrollment and its efforts to reduce expenses. He credited the district’s business operations office, board members and other administrators with keeping close tabs on the budget. Hall said the improved rating would make it easier for the district to receive favorable rates if it were planning to do a bond issue. However, since there currently are no bond issues on the horizon, the upgrade’s effects will be minimal. “It’s a good sign by an outside firm that we’re doing the right things financially,” Hall said. “But it won’t really impact us because we don’t have any intention of going for a bond issue anytime soon.” The rating had been at A+ negative since March, 2015. Sault Schools’ financial issues are expected to continue for the next several years, largely due to declining enrollment. Administrators budgeted for a drop of 48 students this fall, and projections have shown the district losing nearly 10 percent of its total student body from 2016-17 to 2020-21.
